Food, Family & Fun

September 5, 2007

What we expected to be a pretty uneventful Labor Day Weekend turned out to be BUSY!  Saturday began with our monthly trip to the county landfill.  They offer “free dump day” on the first Saturday of each month, and we’re trying to clear the years decades of clutter from our detatched garage.  We have made some progress, but we still have a long way to go.  While in town we took the kids to the library and out to breakfast.

Afterwards we went home and packed up to go to my cousins lake getaway.  Her family had had this escape on the lake in Tennessee for several years, and although we ofter discussed visiting her there, we had yet to make it.  It is only about 60 miles from our home, whereas her permanent home is about 4 hours away.  We got there in the early afternoon, and spent the day enjoying each other’s company and watching our boys play in the nearby creek.  This place is isolated from everything, and was beautiful.  Afterwards we went to their getaway home and enjoyed an excellent meal.

On Sunday we attended J’s annual family reunion, also in Tennessee.  He always throughly enjoys this event, whereas me, not so much.  Therefore, I was glad we had decided in advance to make this year’s stay brief, in order to make it to another cookout that afternoon.  The second event was also in Tennessee, at the home of some friends that reside in Dallas, TX for the majority of the year.  It was awesome spending time with them, and sharing some hilarious memories after not seeing them for several years.

I thought Monday would be our day or rest, WRONG-O!  My granny had planned a cookout for the family!  More food, more family, more exhaustion.

The one thing I actually wanted to accomplish this weekend, spend time with Brian & Alan, didn’t happen, but I guess there’s always next time!

Sounds like you had a fabulous weekend! I worked every day, 12 hours a day. I wish we could have seen a movie or something, but I was too tired to do much of anything.

Looks like I’m going to be working next weekend, too, Argh!!

That sucks, but on the bright side, look at all the credit card debt you can pay down.

When your schedule eases up you’ll have to come over for potato skins & a beating at dominoes.
